Dudh Sangh Ltd. for Delivering Premium Milk Products One of the leading and fastest growing co-operatives in the state “Rajarambapu Milk Union” has performed the modernization and computerization of their milk processing plant handling 2.5 lac liters per day at Islampur, Sangli.
Their plant operates on full capacity and in order to overcome losses and improve
quality 'Rajarambapu Milk Union' went for automation. Plant wide automation & computerization system has been rolled out with network of PLCs and PCs over 10/100 mbps fast Ethernet connectivity. Complete automation is done on turnkey basis by M/S e-Doodh Solutions Pvt.Ltd., which is an Indian company with the technical base in Houston (USA), with mutual support of technical and engineering staff of Rajarambapu Milk Union. DAPL has successfully introduced automation at different stages during milk processing without affecting regular day-day working for the plant (as regular working of the plant was very crucial) Rajarambapu Milk Union was particularly interested in being able to integrate the factory control system from the dairy plant, with the new MES system that they planned for the production process. All the processes like Storage of Milk, Lot Adjustment / Standardization, Silo agitator operations, Pasteurizer control and temperature at different stages are monitored and recorded. Now cleaning of all the Silos can be done by clicking on computer only through flexible recipes based program. Information of milk at various stages are closely monitored, recorded and controlled by the computers and PLCs. On top of this there is an umbrella MIS (Management Information system) to generate miscellaneous reports like Milk Reception report, Storage Tank Report, Pasteurizer Report, Utility Reports, CIP Reports etc. These are reports can be exported to multiple formats like Microsoft Excel, word, JPEG, GIF, TIFF and PDF.
“The previous dairy systems were not automated,” Mr. Chavan (AGM Plant Operations) said. “The PLCs were not connected, there was no reporting, and there was no traceability. It was also possible to overfill a tank, leading to unnecessary waste. And, because the process was highly manual, it was time consuming and inefficient.
